Hi Emily, thanks for the great tutorial but I’m having a problem with the image not linking directly to Paypal. Click it and nothing happens. Right-click to open in new tab/window and it works but not off a normal click. Seems like FB is blocking it. Am I missing something? Have they updated their blocking since April 2?

Hi Stacy,

It works the same way–you install the app the same way. Everything works the same way within the app. You do need to use your own button image, and the Paypal button LINK instead of the full button code (as you saw in that second video) otherwise it just returns a blank page. But you follow all the same steps to install the HTML app on your page, and then you just go to the app once it’s installed, and put in your HTML code and content there. I can do this for you for a small fee, if you’re interested.

Hi Emily! How does this work with the new facebook pages? I tried to put a paypal button on my page and it doesn’t take you to paypal. I saw your new video about creating your own button, but the new fb pages doesn’t seem to have a place where you can add a photo. I’m so confused! Please help!

Hi Maria,

Yes, Facebook does want you to have a personal account that is an admin on your pages. This is necessary if you want to merge two pages. It’s not so much that YOU must be an authenticated user, but the PAGE itself must be authentic. For example, I couldn’t set up a page for Coca Cola and authenticate that page, because I am not an official representative of Coca Cola. So you have to prove (authenticate) that you’re an official representative of your page. Good luck!

Hi there, great tutorials on this site, really life-saving!

So, if I’ve got it right, in order to merge two pages you’ve got to be the authenticated user of the keeper page, and in order to do so, you’ve got to have a Personal Account (in addition to your keeper Page), isn’t that so?

Gosh, why does Facebook keep messing everything up…

It depends. Do you have fewer than 25 friends/fans? If so, you will probably be able to change the name of your page once you convert it. But even if you have more than 25, it may still let you create a new name for your page. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t!

Other readers–has anyone had experience with this? Will it let you change the name of your page when you convert it from a profile?

Hi Carlye,

how long ago did you do this? Once you merge pages it may take a little while to show up on the phone for the check in. (you are talking about checking in on Facebook, right? Not FourSquare?) If you are a “local business and places,” then it should definitely be available as a check-in spot.

I was able to merge my business Place with my business Page, and it converted the likes and the check ins, the page is categorized as “local businesses and places”, but now it will not appear as an option for check in. When I’m there, I can’t check in. Any ideas?
