Great article and video! I had to like the video also. I especially appreciate the link you had in your story for resolving the issue.

I primarily build websites, but over the past year, nearly 25% of my business has drifted into social media. I am doing work for a non-profit group that is not entirely tec savvy who had a volunteer create a Facebook page and can no longer be found. With a few hundred likes we did not want to start over and hopefully, with your information, we will not have to.

So, this is the long version of saying thanks or the information.

    Bill

If your page was hacked, report the hacked page to Facebook and they will help you get control back.

Hello Emily, Just wanted to thank you, this was a great help. I have been newly appointed in position and no one knows who set up the Facebook page, controls it etc. I have been to a solution……the information you provided was a great help.

Hi! I like the video a lot, very helpful!!! However, I created a page a while ago for the restaurant where I work and now I want to merge the page that people created to do check-ins to mine, but when I try to claim it gets stuck after I check the box “I am an official representative of…”. What should I do then? Thanks!!

Do you have the documents it requests, or do you have an email address @yourdomain that you can add to your Facebook account? It tells you what you need to do to verify your account and verify that your page is official. If you can’t or don’t have those documents, then you won’t be able to prove that you officially represent the restaurant. I would ask the owners/manager of your business and see if you can work with them to get that documentation and make this work. They would probably be glad to have you managing the page for them!

Hi Emily, I just want to know how can I claim back the page I made cause the new admins removed me as the manager of the page I created and they abandoned it and left a defamation to my name on facebook. It’s a business page and before I am the consultant of the business and gave the new admins a privilege as a manager knowing they are going to continue good advertising promotions which they failed to comply to.

Maureen, the best thing I know to tell you is to follow the steps outlined in this blog post. If someone has stolen your property, then you can follow the steps to reclaim your copyright. If you can’t prove it or don’t have the documentation Facebook requires, then your best course of action is a civil suit or legal action against this person in your country of jurisdiction, or simply cut your losses and start over with a new page. Good luck!

Hello Emily, I added an extra admin and that person deleted my band page. Is there any way to get it back??

  16. Emily Garman May 1, 2013 at 8:23 pm #

Hi Manuel, I’m so sorry this happened to you. No, unfortunately, once someone has deleted a page, there is no way to get it back. :(

AWWW man, It’s weird because I type in the band’s name on the search bar and the page comes up, I click on it and it takes me to my homepage. thanks for replying Emily. If anyone has problems with their pages I’ll send them your way.
